1 About

Logging camp replaces original forest in temperate/arctic climate, but cut trees like lumber mill. Unlike lumber mill, forest logging camps in temperate/arctic climate appears randomly on the map and thus keep tree growth balanced (especially useful for large multiplayer maps). 
In case of tropical climate, logging camps act identical like replaced lumber (must to be founded).

Crew security option allow you to protect logging camp against closure - settled camps are not closed if run out of trees.
Non protected camps are dismantled almost immediately, if wood production drops to zero.

2 Compatibility

Logging camp forest replacement newgrf is compatible with temperate, tropic and subarctic climate.
In absence of other industry sets, logging camp replace forest.
It does not replace custom forest from other industry sets - it add another forest industry instead.
